Vacation time!

The sun is calling my name, the ocean is singing to my soul and the universe is graciously carrying me on a VERY MUCH NEEDED vacation. I'm going on a cruise! Excited, relieved and with much anticipation, I am going to rest this body, mind and soul. I must say, you won't hear from me for two weeks, but you know my presence is near and all of you are dear to me.

I hope to return rejuvenated and ready to bask in the joy of life!

Sending you positive energy, joy and love your way, always!

Inspirational Monday: Waterflow of dreams...

I decided to take my daughter, nieces and nephew to the city for a change of scenery mostly for me. I knew that being in the sun would be so refreshing and healing. So, we went to Atlanta's Olympic Park. The kids splashed in the water fountains and I heard laughter everywhere. It was indeed healing.

Both photos are of the water show where all the kids had to leave the area so that the water could dance to the music. It was actually pretty cool.

Jannah turned around before she jumped back into the fun and said, "Mommy, take my picture." It was so much fun looking at the kids play, smile, laugh and scream with such delight. I smiled and realized that water is so powerful and the kids practiced every idea they dreamed of to play with those foutains. They covered the fountains with their feet, hands, bottoms, stomachs and faces. You name it, they did it.

See Jannah make believe that she was Beyonce on the Olympic Park's stage. She danced and sang like her audience of four were thousands. It was a blast to watch her.

The kids had played and dreamed of so much fun and their dream came true. They were tired and were ready to go. I was inspired by all the kids and how they just played until they were exhausted in their waterflow of dreams.

Who or what inspires you?

Happy Inspirational Monday!

what would you do...

if someone gave me to you
would you worry about my thorns?

would you put me in a vase
or in your flower press?

would you use my petals
to decorate your warm bath
or even say, your wedding path?

or would you simply let me say
i love you friend

what would you do?

*Note to readers: pinch-hitting for vchelle today.
Sending her lots of positive vibes. We miss ya vchelle!

Inspirational Monday: friendship...

when the seas are too stormy
and the horizon you can't find
how will I get through this?
is all that's on your mind

just know that you have friends
who love and care for you
to provide you with support
and help you to get through

no woman is an island
my grandmother would often say
but it took surviving some rough times
to fully understand the meaning today.

*Have an Inspirational Monday!

On this day, I am inspired by the depth and strength of friendship.
Who are what inspires you?

*Give thanks to my heartical sisterfriend vchelle for allowing me into her sacred space again. Sending you positive vibes as you go through the detox of your body, mind and soul. Love you with my BIG heart all the way to God's House.

One Love.

*Note to readers: vchelle will be back online after completing her detox regimen. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Conscious Friday: Body, Mind & Soul

I've been on a mission to detox my body from all of the cheese doodles, barbeque potato chips, Doritos and cookies that I've been sneaking a hand full here and a cup cake there. Although I'm adamant about getting raw green smoothies, juices and wheatgrass in my body daily, my taste of junk food had grown into a ferocious appetite for it. How did I get here you ask? Excellent question and of one I can’t answer!

I began cleansing and let me tell you that when anyone fasts and detox, they will not only detox from the foods that have been stored in the colon but they also detox emotionally. Seven days into my cleanse, I felt like a raving lunatic! I was out of control and feeling horrible! I began detoxing so fast that I had to slow the detox process down. Whew! It's been a crazy journey. I'm starting to feel better and I thank God!

So, if you don't already know, when we take on such a big challenge as a major detox process, please understand that the only way for the toxins to leave our bodies is for it to go through the entire digestive system and this process impacts not just our bodies, but our minds and our souls.

It is worth it because I’m striving for optimum health and I so need it. Please have patience with me while I soar through this effort. I feel your support and presence!

You - The Woman - Part II

I'm thinking of you - the woman - all of you beautiful women on this day. Why? Because you are phenomenal! I dedicate this poem to you... Smile and enjoy!
Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Inspirational Monday: Witnessing Presence...

I’ve never taken Jannah to the hair stylist with me before and I knew I would be there for at least a couple of hours. A little concerned she would be bored, I checked her too-big florescent pink plastic purse that she adores, which is really a beach bag. She had her Leapster game, coloring books, pencils and a few of what I call her on-to-go books.

We arrived to the salon on time and she was mesmerized by the place. “What’s this, what’s that?” I answered her. All her questions stopped when a little girl with such an angelic face wearing brown and aqua blue colors walked through the hanging beads that separated the waiting room from where the hair stylists worked their magic. Jannah stopped in her tracks physically right in the middle of her sentence and the little girl stood the same. They stared at each other with bright unquestionable eyes, surprised to see each other. It was such an inspiration to witness their little souls connecting right before my eyes. It felt like minutes before the little girl waved her hand to say hi to Jannah. Jannah smiled and waved back. My hair stylist called my name and I walked through the same beads reminding Jannah to come along. They walked side-by-side and the friendship had begun just like that!

The little girl was the daughter of another hair stylist and she was so thankful her daughter was blessed with a playmate even if it was just for a couple of hours. They played quietly coloring, talking, smiling and of course playing the game, “Can you do this? Can you do that?” By the time I was under the hair dyer, they were holding hands, dancing and very present with each other. One fell, the other helped to pick her up. They shared their toys and their ideas and they did without judgment, without stipulations and without fear.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to meet someone for the first time as adults and go back to being able to just hug them and hold hands just because we both deserve it? Wouldn’t it be extraordinary for us to just stare at each other upon our energy connecting without fear of judgment, being used or recognized not by the clothes, shoes or hair styles but by the content of our BEING?

There is no need to find out the answers to our questions upon meeting someone for the first time “because if we listen carefully, we will hear,” words of Bob Marley. Shall we listen with our presence as children do? Shall we accept the flow of energy and witness the beauty of why we are here in this fascinating place?

Who are what inspires you?

Sending you ever-flowing positive energy without judgment or fear, but with sincere appreciation and love.

Happy Inspirational Monday!

Conscious Friday: Let's Keep the World Beautiful!

I remember the year of 1976 like it was yesterday. I was ten years old during that bicentennial year. Although I was a teenager in the eighties and loved that era, something about the seventies is etched deep in my mind and Being. When I hear the type of music that enriched television with magical theme songs (ok, magical for a ten year old) for shows like Charlie's Angels, Starsky & Hutch, Happy Days, and Star Trek, I sink in memories that stir all of my senses. Oh yes, I have a special relationship with the seventies.

But one story that snatched my heart with no return was a television commercial about the effects of pollution and I had to share it for Conscious Friday.

It amazes me how on one end of the spectrum, I will hold onto a slither of paper in my hand or in my car until I get to a trash can and on the other end of the spectrum, someone would throw aluminum cans in the street without a blink.

Jannah and I were leaving the gas station when I saw two young adults throw beer cans out of the window of their car. I was so irritated by this senseless and selfish act and would have stopped to pick them up if I were not in such a busy intersection. I took a deep breath and vowed to make sure I explain my opinion to others around me about how polluting this beautiful earth is a crime in my book. It is a spiritual crime, a human crime and it is so disrespectful to Nature.

I immediately thought of the “The Crying Indian - Keep America Beautiful” television ad that really had an impact on my still developing mind and heart in the 70’s. And when I saw beer cans thrown out of a car window recently, my soul remembered the tear on the Indian's face. You have to take a look at it below if you haven’t before.

This message of consciousness was clear in the 1970's and it is clear today! Let's Keep Our Earth - Our World Beautiful!! Visit Earth Day website to see how you can have an impact everyday.

Thank you sooo much for visiting!

Simple Things: Simple is as simple does

These last few weeks, I've totally leaned on the simple things in life to hold my shoulders up, to hold my head up and to lift my Being. When I think of some of the simple things that have cascaded my Being (essence), I smile. I smile because not only do the simple things help me to look for more simple things, but the simple measures remind me of how wonderfully blessed my life is.

Simplicity is medicine for healing and it is our source of staying in the present moment and the present moment is our power! After recognizing that I've recognized a simple thing like making it to the gas station on a hope and a prayer, I feel joy and I feel secure in all that I am! I simply love life.

I simply love the scent of my husband.

I simply love and enjoy the smile of my daughter...

the voice of my husband

the joking of my step-son

the smell of raw greens in my blender

the completion of a yoga class

a good downpour of rain

the chirping of birds while sitting on my front porch

the excitement of a compliment

the words, "You have been accepted to graduate school"

the love...

the peace...

the joy...

the excitement of just Being!

Simple is as simple does and I create and thrive for simplicity. Let's continue to be grateful that we do have the simple things to be grateful for because afterall, this appreciation helps us to blossom through the complex things!

Sending love and joy with simplicity!

Christina at Soul Aperture asked us to participate in acknowledging the simple things on this Wednesday and I'm happy to share on this simple path to enjoyment!

Inspirational Monday: Blue Magical Shell

Can you pick out a blue magical shell in the photo? Can you see one or can you see several? Since there are several depictions of blue shells, whatever blue shell you choose, it will be magical. All the shells have the same magic (energy), but conjoined with your energy, it is effectively Being life as you are and this concept is profound.

When two high frequencies come together, it is a force with purpose. Think of a surprise birthday party given by friends and family and then you enter into the door completely shocked to hear and see the excitement. Feel the rapid beat of your heart and then feel the joy. That’s a high frequency!

So, latch on to “your” version of a blue shell and allow its Being to merge with yours. Feel the enthusiasm, the joy and most importantly the acceptance that whatever collective force you engage in, it is what and where you should be.

Let’s be inspired to dwell in the little things on our journey to peace and joy. The little things often ignite huge, huge things that overwhelm us with love enabling us to feel our purpose! It is energy that's magical - our energy - its energy - their energy!

Who or what energy inspires you?

Happy Inspirational Monday!

Conscious Friday: Women of Darfur

Although I'm late posting Conscious Friday, I had to share in getting this very important message out about the Women of Darfur. I read Se'Lah's of Necessary Room Conscious Friday post and was deeply touched by her words, her conviction and the videos that passionately tell the story of the Women of Darfur.

My Being looks out over the universe and the compassion that fills my body is indescribable. I see them from a distance but I feel them close to my heart.

I send them peace, and peace, and peace...

A perfect energy flow...

It was 2:00 am when I arrived at the grocery store. Jannah had a high fever of 103.6. It took all I had to walk out the door to get my baby some things that would help her to feel more comfortable as she struggled with a strep throat. After feeling a little bruised from Jannah climbing and holding on to me for dear life, I became the energized bunny and focused on what she needed.

Leaving Jannah with my adult son, I drove 70 miles per hour pushing the 65 miles per hour speed limit down the dark and really lonely road leading to the grocery store. Deep in anticipation of beating my own expected timeframe of how long I should be away from my daughter, the ding-ding sound made me look at my dashboard. I remembered that I needed gas yesterday. I stopped by the only 24-hour gas station and all the pumps were covered! What???? I prayed and said, "Take me home safely please."

Fast forward to the next day, Jannah and I headed out again to the same grocery store. I was sending so much gratitude out into the universe as I was driving thanking my Creator for blessing my daughter to feel better. Then all of a sudden, my car began to lose power exactly one block from the same gas station I visited at 2:00 am. One problem, I had to make a left turn and then a right turn into the gas station. Could I make it? I began to scream with laughter, "Oh my God Jannah, I think we are about to run out of gas!" She screamed, "Go mommy, go mommy!" In perfect timing, the light turned green and the two cars in front proceeded to go left so I kept pumping the gas pedal. I made that quick left and then pumped the pedal some more and made it into the gas station. I spotted that the outer/end gas pump was available and fixated my energy on it as my car died! We drifted perfectly in front of the gas pump! Jannah and I screamed the entire time with laughter and we cheered and clapped. Jannah said, "Mommy we made it." I said, "Jannah, everything is going to be alright!" She said, "Yep!"

As we drove away from the gas station in smiles, I wondered how many people barely made it to the gas station that day and how many people did not make it. I know that when we put all our energy into succeeding as if there were no other option, we excel!

Gratitude and positive energy from both of us got us to that gas station! Sending you the same to get you to your destination!

Inspirational Monday: This too shall pass...

As the clock goes tick, tick, tick, I know that this too shall pass. I just remind myself to stay present and focus on not what is perceivably wrong, but what is perceivably right. I'm inspired to feel better.

Who are what inspires you?

Sending positive energy your way, always!

Happy Inspirational Monday!
